|  Initially created to prepare students for the associate-level CCNA and professional-level CCNP certifications, the Cisco Networking Academy curriculum has expanded by offering additional courses sponsored by both Cisco and other top IT industry leaders. There are 16 courses within nine curricula covering various IT concepts and skills. Most courses prepare students for industry-recognized certification, which is a welcome addition to any resume.
Cisco Networking Academy courses are an excellent foundation for higher education in engineering, computer science, and management information systems. Working professionals in the 21st century will find that whatever career they choose, knowledge in basic IT skills will prove to be a necessity.

In addition to receiving access to quality instruction and course content, the Cisco Networking Academy Program offers additional benefits to students who successfully complete a curriculum.
Certificate of Course Completion
Upon successful completion of any of the Academy courses, students receive a Certificate of Course Completion stating the competencies gained through the curriculum. The certificate will include the student’s name and the name of their educational institution. This is a reminder of a student’s success, as well as an excellent addition to a resume.
Congratulatory Letter
In addition to the Certificate of Completion, CCNA courses also provide a congratulatory letter from John Chambers, CEO of Cisco Systems, Inc., to students that have achieved a high level of proficiency on their final exam. Letters for other courses are being developed and should be available in the 2003-2004 academic school year.
Alumni Program and Career Connection
Cisco recognizes that staying connected to both Cisco Systems and the Networking Academy program is another important form of networking for students and graduates. When a student successfully completes their first course, they are eligible to join the Alumni Program and then begin participating in the many benefits and services available to Alumni members. Registered Alumni have continued access to the most current version of any curriculum that they successfully complete which positions them to keep their technical knowledge up to date in relationship to certification exams. Alumni members also have access to Career Connection tools and resources to support them in their ongoing career development and job placement needs. From the Alumni Connection web site, registered Alumni can take advantage of the many benefits and services available through Cisco partners and other vendors including continuous learning and technical training. Discount Certification Vouchers
Most Academy courses prepare students for industry certification. Cisco Systems, Inc. provides students with a substantial discount on taking the CCNA and CCNP exams. Academy Program partners such as CompTIA, Sun Microsystems, and the World Organization of Webmasters also offer students steep discounts off the standard price of certification exams related to many of the other Academy curricula.
